Housed inside the international terminal inside the Vancouver International Airport, The Spirit of Haida Gwaii, known as the Jade Canoe, is the second bronze casting of this famous sculpture. Originally sculpted in 1986 as a clay model, the design was later enlarged and cast in bronze in 1991, creating the first casting known as the Black Canoe. An image of the sculpture, created by artist Bill Reid, can be seen on the reverse side of a Canadian $20 bill.
