Tonnara di Bonagia
Located on a small port on the west coast of Sicily, the Tonnara di Bonagia resort was originally a 17th-century tuna fishery, comprised of a main processing building, a central courtyard, small fishermen's cottages, and a watchtower. Today, the grounds are renovated with manicured gardens and 102 guest rooms, which are simply decorated with wicker headboards, tiled floors, and a private terrace with views of the sea. The resort also includes tennis courts, an outdoor pool, and two restaurants: La Muciara, which serves authentic regional cuisine amid views of the port, and Le Ancore, which provides seasonal courtyard dining.
Room to Book:
Some rooms do not have air conditioning, so be sure to request it, especially if you’re visiting during the summer.
Insider Tip:
During your stay, travel into Trapani and catch the cable car to the top of Mount Erice, where the Norman-era Venus Castle provides panoramic views of Tunisia and Africa.
