In a landmark building on the Upper East Side, The Mark has been reimagined by French designer Jacques Grange as a soigné retreat. The striking black-and-white, Op Art lobby announces this is no longer a frumpy enclave for ladies who lunch. The 140 cream-and-tobacco guest rooms feature photomurals by Karl Lagerfeld, Bang & Olufsen entertainment systems, and Quagliotti bed linens. Francophiles will appreciate the Frederic Fekkai salon and the black truffle pizza at the new Mark Restaurant, helmed by Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
Insider Tip:
The hotel’s bar has always been a top spot for a quiet, classy drink, but now it’s been refurbished—and that curvy bar is actually the work of contemporary artist Guy de Rougemont.
