Tortuguero
Pachira Lodge
Tortuguero, Costa Rica
Just outside Tortuguero National Park on the northeast coast of Costa Rica, the Pachira Lodge sits on a thin strip of land surrounded by a network of canals. With more than 100 bungalows, two restaurants and a spa, the resort gives guests access to a tremendous amount of fauna and wildlife. The endangered green sea turtle is the star attraction and the nesting period from July to September remains the peak of the holiday season. Vacations are packaged with three types available, but each allows for outside activities like deep sea fishing, zip lining across forest canopies, or getting pampered in the spa.
Room to Book:
Location is the only real difference in the rooms, but ask for one away from the bar and pool area for a bit more quiet.
Insider Tip:
Bring ear plugs. The howler monkeys begin early in the morning and there are no glass windows to close in the bungalows.
