Ameyoko, short for Ameya Yokocho (Candy Shop Alley), is a busy market street running between Ueno and Okachimachi Stations. Known as a place for black market trading around WWII, it's now a spot to hunt for bargains on everything from clothing and shoes to bulk foods including nuts and dried fruit. The bustling atmosphere is reminiscent of a past Japan, or another part of Asia.
