Daigo
Tokyo, 105-0002, Japan
Set in a zen garden in Atago, Daigo is a shojin ryori (vegetarian restaurant) in the Buddhist tradition, housed in a temple building that was moved to its current location from the grounds of the nearby Daigo-ji Temple. Dining takes place in private tatami rooms with sunken seating areas overlooking the garden, entered and exited through sliding shoji screens. Kimono-clad servers bring out the tradional kaiseki (multi-course) meal, each course of which is prepared according to Buddhist principles and artistically presented.
Insider Tip:
While in the area, visit the historic Atago Shrine, a Shinto shrine built in 1603.
