Bird Land

4-2-15 Ginza
Tsukamoto Sozan Bldg. B1
Tokyo, 104-0061, Japan
TEL: 81-3-5250-1081

Yakitori — essentially the Japanese version of a grilled chicken kebab — is ubiquitous in Tokyo, found everywhere from street stalls to upscale restaurants. Tucked away in a basement in Ginza, Michelin-starred Bird Land serves yakitori sourced from free-range chickens so fresh that the restaurant even makes a sashimi out of them. Diners sit on stools at an informal wooden bar that wraps around the grill and watch the chefs prepare chicken gizzards and livers, grilled shitake mushrooms, and tofu, as well as the trademark kebabs, fillets, and chicken meatballs.

Insider Tip:

While in the area, don't miss the opportunity to walk Sukiyabashi Crossing, the world's busiest crosswalk.
