With its distinctive clock tower and curved granite façade, Wako is one of the most iconic department stores in Tokyo. Centrally located in the Ginza shopping district, the neo-Renaissance building houses a high-end collection of men and women's clothing, as well as jewelry, handbags, crystal, porcelain, and watches (the product that first launched the company in 1881). In addition to its selection of upscale international brands, Wako is known for its creative, exhibit-like window displays, which make it a great place to browse. The building also includes an art gallery, a tea salon, and an artisan chocolate shop.
Make sure you stay around long enough to hear the bells in the clock tower play the Westminster Chimes on the hour.
