Tokyo Hipsters Club
The concept behind Harajuku's Toyko Hipster's Club is that cutting-edge is a lifestyle, manifested across a range of products from clothes to books to art. Inside a three-story concrete bunker of a building designed by British firm Tom Dixon, THC includes men and women's clothing and accessories on one floor, books and magazines on the next, and an exhibition space and cafe/rooftop terrace (Cafe Liberte) at the top. The store has its own fashion line, informed by punk and revolutionary sensibilities, contrasting with the leather club chairs and taxidermy animal heads on the walls, a nod to English gentleman's clubs.
Half indoor and half outdoor, rooftop Cafe Liberte often holds DJ nights, which are especially nice in the summer when you can get out onto the roof.
