Mikimoto
Tokyo, 104-0061, Japan
Around the world, the name Mikimoto is synonymous with the highest quality pearl jewelry. The company's Ginza 2 location in what's known as "the Swiss Cheese Building" (because of its distinctively shaped windows) sells mid-range jewelry, but it also has a bridal salon with a range of services for brides, an entire floor of cosmetics, and an upscale international-fusion restaurant and lounge. The store's architecturally driven interior—white marble with chrome accents and a circular staircase that winds up through the store—is worth a look, even for non-shoppers.
Insider Tip:
Orchid tea, served in the third-floor Beginning of Happiness Lounge, is considered one of the world's rarest and most flavorful tea varieties.
