Kiddy Land
Among the most popular toy stores in the city, Kiddy Land is a national chain with more than 80 locations throughout Japan. At this Harajuku flagship, the five-story building is packed with toys from around the world, including robots, Legos, Barbie dolls, stuffed animal cell phone stands, jeweled stickers, and Antquariums (ant aquariums). Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty and Keroppi appear on everything from chopsticks to school supplies, while other products are decorated with images of Disney princesses and superheroes like Spiderman. Surrounding the displays, a number of TV's show clips of programs in which such characters appear.

Make sure to check out the store's gashapon, or hand-cranked vending machines—they dispense small toys encased in plastic capsules, which often become collector's items.
