About an hour north of Cabo San Lucas in southern Baja lies the small Pacific Coast fishing town and noted artist’s colony of Todos Santos. In the heart of its colonial quarter rises a brick building that served variously as a police station, post office, and art academy for 150 years before being turned into a boutique hotel in 2010. The 14 rooms are a pleasant mix of dark wood furnishings and rustic tile floors with modern luxe amenities like plasma TVs and Egyptian-cotton sheets. In the evenings, after dinner in the courtyard restaurant, relax under the Renaissance-style ceiling of the Moorish-inflected Bar Don Guillermo—or under the stars at the rooftop lounge by the pool and spa.
Room to Book:
The Oasis Suite has a king-size canopy bed, vintage copper tub, and large private terrace with views over the palm and mango to the vast Pacific waters beyond.
Insider Tip:
The hotel has a towering private palapa nearby that overlooks two miles of beach. (The Pacific surf is notoriously rough, so swimming is only on calm days and only at one end of the beach.)
