Herakleidon Experience in Visual Arts

Not all of the art in Athens is ancient; this stunningly renovated Neoclassical mansion holds the world’s third largest collection of graphic M. C. Escher prints and a permanent exhibit of the work of Op Art pioneer Victor Vasarely. Themes of visiting exhibitions range from Edgar Degas sculptures to photographer Francesco Scavullo’s celebrity portraits. It’s a 10-minute walk from the Acropolis along the pedestrian walkway Apostolou Pavlou, so you can cover almost 3,000 years of art history in a single afternoon.
