For one of the most memorable and challenging off-piste experiences in Colorado, ski Minturn Mile right into downtown Minturn, an old mining town about seven and a half miles from Vail Village. The trail is actually about three miles long and can be accessed just off the Lost Boy slope of Game Creek Bowl. It starts in the back bowls, broad and breezy, then leads into the trees and across Beaver Ponds. The hardest part is next: a luge-like, two-mile-long run with fast twists and turns that finally leads you to a steep slope that ends in Minturn. From there, walk about a quarter of a mile to Minturn Saloon for the ultimate après-ski experience—you've earned it.
