Things to do in The Oregon Coast

The Pacific Northwest has long been a destination for lovers of the great outdoors, and the headliners on a list of things to do on the Oregon Coast are appropriately nature-filled.

Travelers can take in quintessential Pacific Northwest sites with strolls along its sandy beaches, or by exploring the hiking trails that border its rugged cliffs. All Oregon beaches are public, and the region's state and national parks offer ample opportunities for camping, whether it’s near the water or one of those higher vistas.

For wildlife lovers, ideas of what to do on the Oregon Coast include bird and whale-watching excursions, along with exploring its colorful tidal pools. Because rainy days happen often, there are also things to do on the Oregon Coast that are warm and dry. Seaside, Gearhart, Astoria--oceanfront villages up and down the state line feature quaint galleries and boutiques that display the work of local artists. For a slice of local history, check out the Columbia River Maritime Museum or tour one the historic lighthouses that dot the coastline.
