No visit to Dublin is complete without a taste of the city’s signature treat: a bag of greasy, deliciously crunchy fried cod and chips. And there’s no better place to sample it than at this beloved institution, easily the best of the city’s takeouts or “chippers.” As you wait for your order of heavenly battered, lard-fried bliss (no vegetable oil here!), you can peruse the Hall of Fame and wonder how Tom Cruise, Bruce Springsteen, and Edith Piaf liked their visits here. In recent years, Burdocks has opened new branches in other parts of town, but they just don’t compare to the original Werburgh Street HQ.
Smoked cod and chips is the classic Dublin order, and the only answer to the inevitable question of “Salt and vinegar?” is “Yes, please.”
