Chesuncook Lake House

Rte. 76
Chesuncook Village, Maine, United States
TEL: (207) 745-5330

Designated by the federal government as a historic property, this central Maine inn dates back to 1864, and originally served as a farmhouse and boarding house for loggers. Now it hosts leisure travelers, who head here to boat, swim, canoe, and hike in the summer, or snowmobile in the winter. Floatplanes also depart from, and land in, adjacent Chesuncook Lake. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all made in-house, are served family-style in the Lake House dining room. Meals include the inn's own farm-raised, grass-fed meats; pastries and breads, and organic vegetables. All four rooms overlook the lake and sightings of wildlife like moose, deer, and eagles are common.

Room to Book:

If you're traveling with a large group, stay in one of the inn's three cabins, which contain full kitchens and baths (except during winter), but require wood-stove or propane heating.

Insider Tip:

A part of the charm of being at the Lake House is the beauty of its remote wilderness location, but be aware that there are no cell phone services in the area.
