Breckenridge is long past its gold rush days, but the town still booms in winter, when one of Colorado’s best-regarded mountains draws skiers from across the globe. Valdoro Mountain Lodge is located only two blocks from the Beaver Run lift, and a ½-mile from downtown.

The Hearthstone Restaurant occupies a Victorian-style home dating back to the early 1880’s. There are dining rooms on the first and second floors, each with lace curtains and antique reproduction chairs.
