Sueño del Mar
The name of this resort translates to "dream of the sea," and its owners do their best to represent the name in property’s snug garden layouts and patios decorated with frescoes, hand-painted tiles, and eclectic artwork. Located on Playa Langosta in Guanacaste, there are four types of adobe rooms, suites, and casitas—each furnished with Posturepedic beds, air conditioning, and open-air showers. Nearby activities include kayaking in the San Francisco Estuary; deep-sea fishing for marlin, yellowfin tuna, and sailfish; and watching the nesting of giant leatherback turtles. While there is no on-site restaurant, the hotel does serve a daily brunch by the pool.
Room to Book:
A little more distant from the beach, Casita Misha, also known as the honeymoon suite, offers the most privacy.
It’s only a 15-minute walk (by road or beach) to Tamarindo if you want to enjoy the nightlife, but use a bit more caution on the way back.
