In a neighborhood filled with snootily fashionable terrace cafés—where the waitstaff seem to make a special point of ignoring you—Atika stands out for its genial atmosphere of bonhomie. The staffers are happy to fulfill special requests; take advantage of that by asking for a tasting plate of meze (which isn’t on the menu). Follow it up with a plate of homemade mantı: Turkish ravioli stuffed with veal, yogurt, sumac, and locally made butter. Then try the Atlantic grilled salmon, served with capers and an especially delicious interpretation of potato börek—a traditional flaky pie reminiscent of pommes de terre Anna.
There are only a handful of tables on the terrace—which is definitely where you want to be—so book in advance.
