Hotel Birger Jarl

8 Tulegatan
Stockholm, 113 53, Sweden
TEL: 46-8-674-1800

Although it’s named after the man who founded Stockholm in the 13th century, the Hotel Birger Jarl is all about modern design. The 235 guest rooms showcase the work of more than two dozen local architects and designers, who combined their own personal styles with natural motifs drawn from the Swedish countryside, such as birch trees and icicles. Custom decorations might also include zebra-print chairs, original photography, tutu-shaped light fixtures, and white walls brightened by colorful, hand-painted polka dots. An extensive breakfast buffet is included, and the on-site restaurant serves contemporary Swedish cuisine, such as elk meatballs with juniper-berry sauce.

Room to Book:

Request a room at the back of the property; those at the front face a busy street, so traffic noise is often an issue.

Insider Tip:

The breakfast room is typically crowded and hectic, so plan to visit early if you prefer a quieter start to the morning.
