At just over 594,000 square feet and four levels, the IKEA south of Stockholm in Skarholmen is both the company's first location and largest store in the world. The electric-blue buildings with bright yellow accents (based on Sweden's national colors) are associated with affordable, ready-to-assemble furniture and household goods. The furniture and decorations are modern with simple designs and often make use of solid colors, light wood, and untreated surfaces. IKEA also offers a food line and in-store restaurants based on traditional Swedish foods such as lingonberry jam, boiled potatoes and meatballs, and princess cakes.
At the restaurant, try a traditional meal of gravad lax (raw cured salmon) in a wrap.
