Farley Hill National Park
Located in the parish of St. Andrew, this 17-acre park is built around the ruins of the Farley Hill house, a coral-stone mansion dating from 1818. After serving as the backdrop for the 1957 film Island in the Sun, the hillside mansion was partially destroyed in a fire; however, the stone walls still stand, combining with panoramic ocean views to create a dramatic setting for picnics and weddings. Each January, the tree-shaded park also hosts an outdoor concert as part of the Barbados Jazz Festival, which draws some of the world’s most talented musicians.
The park is often packed with visitors during the weekend, especially on Sunday; plan to go on a weekday if you’re looking for a quieter, more peaceful experience.
