Hotel les Mouettes
Situated directly on Lorient Beach, this relatively affordable hotel makes up for its modest design with a prime location on the water. Just yards from the crashing waves, the seven air-conditioned bungalows are decorated with white gingerbread trim, red iron roofs, and outdoor patios with barbecue grills. The blue-and-white interiors are basic but comfortable, with tiled floors, wooden furniture, seashell-patterned fabrics, and small kitchenettes. The Jojo supermarket is just down the street, and the bungalows are right across from La Petite Colombe, a popular French bakery serving almond croissants, chocolate éclairs, and fresh cappuccino.

Avoid bungalow No. 7—it’s closest to the main road and can be noisy.
Insider Tip:
La Petite Colombe often sells out of sandwiches before noon because patrons pick up their breakfast and lunch at the same time; consider doing the same if you want to order from the full lunch menu.
