Years before eco-conscious design became trendy, Russian-Canadian architect Nick Troubetzkoy designed and built his dream resort: a series of 49 open-air rooms situated along a verdant tropical hillside above a semi-private volcanic sand beach. Within each nature-centric Sanctuary suite—some with the fourth wall removed—warm trade winds obviate the need for air-conditioning, and one look toward the panoramic Piton views will make it clear why flat-screen TVs were never installed. While you can sit back and observe the abundance of wildlife right from your room, be sure to take to the water; divers and snorkelers will be thrilled to discover that several of the island’s top underwater sites can be found within a few fin kicks (or a short boat ride) from the water’s edge.
Room to Book:
For totally unobstructed views of the Pitons—and more than 1,000 feet of breathing room—request room 7F.
Insider Tip:
Driving to the resort? Make sure to rent a car with four-wheel drive. The rutted road leading into the property is all but impassable without it.
