Miss Theresa’s Bakery
Ms. Theresa’s Bakery, an authentic island enterprise for more than 60 years, is legendary for freshly baked Creole baguettes. The modest Soufrière riverfront building, off a tiny alley, is typically identified by a long line of waiting customers. The bakery also supplies its crusty bread to many of the island resorts. Theresa Henry, retired since 2006, left her business and wood-burning ovens to her daughters, who open the store at sunrise. Because it's first come first serve, they typically sell out by 8 a.m. Other available items include sweet bread with coconut and cinnamon, and coconut biscuits with mixed spices.
Insider Tip:
The location is difficult to find and you may need to ask for directions once in the general area. The bakery is near basketball courts in Soufrière .
