The buttermilk fried chicken is a bestseller at Mitchell and Steven Rosenthal’s Town Hall. Along with Doug Washington, the brothers operate in the Meco building, where ship engines were once built, in the SoMa District. The restaurant is easy to spot thanks to its huge vertical lettering on twin white backgrounds flanking the edge, and red awnings marching around the ground floor. Inside are brick walls, a towering ceiling, chandeliers resembling upside-down Queen Anne’s lace, and cushioned booths. Town Hall serves New American cuisine such as pork chops, BBQ shrimp, and tuna tartare. Checks are presented inside books.
Street parking is available or park for a free in the lot at Howard and First.
