Seminyak
Mayaloka Villas
Petitenget
Bali, Indonesia
If Mayaloka Villas feels a little sleepy, that’s precisely the point. Away from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s overcrowded western coast, the 13 thatched-roof villas that comprise the Indonesian hotel are simple yet discreetly luxurious. Each is furnished with antique wood (canopied bed in the bedroom; loungers in the living room), a kitchenette, and a private plunge pool with a waterfall. Every morning you’re greeted with a continental, American-style breakfast, served in your villa or in Warung Damuh, Mayaloka’s open-air restaurant. Follow it up with a traditional Javanese lulur treatment, which includes a scrub made from indigenous ingredients such as turmeric and sandalwood, and a moisturizing yogurt polish.
Room to Book:
Ask for an interior villa near the center of the property—rooms on the resort’s outskirts sometimes pick up street noise.
Insider Tip:
Getting around Seminyak can be a bit of a challenge, but Mayaloka provides complimentary service into town. From there, consider exploring the winding streets by bike.
