Tamarind Tree

1036 S. Jackson St.
Seattle, WA, United States
TEL: (206) 860-1404

This provincial Vietnamese restaurant may be set in Seattle’s International District, but its sleek, orange, candle-lit interior seems more rooted in Manhattan cocktail culture. No doubt it was part of the plan, considering the 13 martini varieties (roasted chili included) on Tamarind Tree’s extensive drinks menu. The complementing entrées, such as lemongrass beef satay, chili chicken lemon leaves, and green banana escargots, are no less stimulating, but portions are modest. The elegant table setting is also refreshingly free of the ubiquitous squeeze bottles and cheap porcelain found at most of the surrounding establishments.

Insider Tip:

The candle-lit atmosphere and titillating flavors at Tamarind Tree make it a great date-night option. Just bring strong breath mints for the walk home.
