A pioneer of small plate dining in Seattle, James Beard Award-winning chef John Sundstrom established this New American restaurant in 2003. Situated in Capitol Hill, Lark has a weathered plank exterior and a rustic-chic dining room with high timbered ceilings, sheer white privacy curtains, and cylindrical light fixtures. Chef Sundstrom incorporates local organic ingredients into his lengthy, seasonal small plate menu, which is divided into six sections: cheese; vegetables and grains; charcuterie; fish; meat; and dessert. Specialties include the beef cheek with porcini ravioli and, for dessert, the mascarpone cheesecake with toasted hazelnut streusel and red wine huckleberries.

Insider Tip:

Dishes are served at a leisurely pace, creating an extended dining experience, so make sure to inform your server up front if you’re dealing with a time constraint.
