Canlis
This Queen Anne restaurant and piano lounge is housed in its original, purpose-built, circa-1950's, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired building. Although it's been made over in intervening decades, changes such as the addition of Zen-inspired gardens, translucent walls, and artisan-crafted fixtures and hardware have all been in keeping with the Pacific northwestern naturalism of the venue. The restaurant is known for its Canlis Salad (romaine, romano cheese, bacon, and mint and oregano leaves in a lemon/olive oil/coddled egg dressing), and 14-day-dry aged muscovy duck. Canlis is said to be the first US restaurant to serve American Wagyu beef.
Insider Tip:
If you can't get reservations in the dining room, consider the piano lounge instead. It's walk-in only and offers both bar- and full-dinner menus.
