Things to do in Scottsdale

Rich cultural pursuits abound in Arizona, so there are plenty of things to do in Scottsdale for art and architecture lovers. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West is a must see. This house was his desert getaway and studio, built in 1937, and now open daily for public tours. Don’t miss the Soleri Bridge and Plaza, designed by the legendary Italian architect Paolo Soleri. You may recognize his name from his famous bronze bells, which you can see at the bridge. Soleri was also the mastermind behind Arcosanti, an experimental community in the desert 70 miles north of Phoenix—worth a visit if you have the time.

Fashionistas and shopaholics will want to spend the afternoon at Kierland Commons. For a souvenir of the spa culture, high-end bath goods can be purchased at local favorite, LATHER. If you need serious retail therapy, then Fashion Square is for you—225+ shops with everything from Neiman Marcus to Sephora to Burberry.

If you find yourself wondering what to do in Scottsdale on a Thursday night, the answer is Artbridge Thursday. Starting on Halloween and ending in early May, local artists and craftspeople gather on the Marshall Way Bridge by the waterfront from 5pm-10pm to sell their wares and socialize. Live music, local artists and food trucks--what more could you ask for?
