Located on 450 acres in the Tesuque Valley, Bishop's Lodge Resort was originally built by the first Archbishop of Santa Fe Jean Baptiste Lamy in 1853 as a retreat and chapel. Although on National Register of Historic places, the resort has since undergone renovations. The 111 rooms and 15 lodges are completed with earth tones, light wood furniture and vigas, kiva fireplaces, and Navajo prints. For relaxation, consider the ShaNah spa; for outdoor activities, there is horseback riding, a skeet range, tennis, and day-long kid programs. Enjoy Southwestern dining at Las Fuentes restaurant or the poolside Sunflower Grill.
Room to Book:
The Juniper Lodge is situated at the quiet end of the resort with a large deck that overlooks the stables.
Insider Tip:
Consider watching "Crazy Heart", which was filmed here in 2010, for a preview of the resort's scenery.
