"Charlie Chaplin slept here" is a frequent—and often untrue—SoCal refrain, but it's apt at the Montecito Inn, which the famous actor built in the 1920s. The namesake café dates to 1986, when Mark and Margaret Huston debuted their California cuisine on the ground floor, where an airy dining room serves Santa Barbara’s most affluent neighborhood. Lunch revolves around sandwiches, pasta bowls, and salads, including a spicy chicken sauté salad with garlic dressing. The dinner menu is more entrée-centric, with grilled leg of lamb proving most popular, along with the Mexico-inspired chicken breast Anaheim chilies and cilantro.
The Jane Burger is a tribute to Margaret Huston's mom.
