Sandwich Glass Museum

129 Main St.
Sandwich, MA, 02563, United States
TEL: (508) 888-0251

In addition to being the oldest community on Cape Cod, the town of Sandwich is also known for its long history of glassmaking. This museum, housed in a red-brick building on Main Street, is dedicated primarily to the work of the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company, which operated from 1825 to 1888. Displayed on glass shelves inside bright, airy rooms, the museum's collection comprises almost 6,000 glass items, including lamps, tableware, candlesticks, vases, and perfume bottles. The museum also hosts live glassblowing demonstrations every hour on the hour, and the on-site shop sells both reproduction and contemporary glassware.

Insider Tip:

After visiting the glass museum, head to the nearby Heritage Museums & Gardens, home to several art galleries, a vintage carousel, antique automobiles, and gardens planted with thousands of rhododendrons.
