A buzzing hive of commercial activity, this covered market is as much of a full-immersion experience as a shopping destination. The front areas, packed with souvenir T-shirts and plastic schlock, aren’t worth your time; instead, make your way back into the labyrinthine recesses to find local tropical fruits, exotic flowers, rich coffees, fresh juices, handmade leather goods, and a general sense that you are, in fact, in Central America, which is not always apparent in the glitzier beach destinations.
