Richmond-based Tommy's Mexican has been luring diners and tequila aficionados since it opened in 1965. Co-owner Julio Bermejo does not take tequila lightly: His regular trips to Jalisco have earned him the title of U.S. Ambassador to Tequila. Nearly all of Mexico's distilleries are represented at the Tommy's tequila bar, with 108 different reposados on offer, plus hundreds of other options both older and younger—and all 100% agave. "Standard" margarita pitchers are anything but, as guests choose from over 30 different anejo, reposado, or blanco tequilas. The menu carries standard-issue favorites like burritos, enchiladas, and steak rancheros, as well as Yucatan specialties such as poc chuc, a brine-and-sour-orange-infused grilled pork dish.
