With nearly 2,000 acres of coastal state park and miles of trails to choose from, Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve offers some of the best hiking in San Diego, along with expansive views over the Pacific Ocean. Three popular trails under a mile are the Beach Trail (a three-quarter-mile trail through the upper reserve to the beach), Razor Point Trail (two-thirds of a mile to the Razor Point overlook, which features dramatic views of sculptured sandstone gorge and trees), and High Point Trail (a steep 100 yards of steps with panoramic views of the reserve, lagoon, and inland San Diego).
