El Agave Tequileria
A meal at El Agave Tequileria is more about the thousands of fine sipping tequilas, although the Nouvelle Mexican cuisine provides a complementary range of new and ancient Hispanic dishes. The restaurant’s Old Town address and downstairs liquor store do not portend the old Spanish interior. Sit on leather banquettes or at white-clothed tables, surrounded by exposed red bricks and handmade cabinets. Along with a tequila shot, order bite-sized crispy chalupas or tamales. While traditional dishes such as sopes (thick tortillas with toppings), tacos, and enchiladas are available, don't miss the filet mignon in a tequila and red wine reduction sauce.
