Rome
Radisson SAS Es Hotel
Though it's a bit of a hike from most of the city's cultural attractions, the glass-walled Radisson Blu es Hotel has the advantage of being situated beside Rome's main railway station, Roma Termini. The seven-story hotel contains 232 units ranging from standard rooms to executive suites. Modern design elements combine form and function; some rooms feature unusual "raft" layouts (a single, wood-carved centerpiece that incorporates the bed, shower, sink, and wardrobe into one structure). The hotel's main attraction is the rooftop terrace, which has two restaurants, a bar, an outdoor pool area, and unobstructed city views.
Room to Book:
Many rooms face the courtyard; for optimal views of the city, request a room facing out, or upgrade to a sixth floor superior room with a private balcony.
Insider Tip:
The two rooftop pools (one for kids) are only open to guests from mid-May through mid-September, so fair-weather months are the best times to stay.
