For vinophiles, it’s hard to beat a stay at the four-room, boutique Il Palazzetto hotel — also home to the International Wine Academy of Rome (on the ground floor). Built in the 1500's, this former palace of Tuscan nobles' perch near the Spanish Steps imbues it with a romantic air that attracts mostly couples and honeymooners to the beige-and-cream-colored bedrooms. The lobby, library, and restaurant also stimulate with a neo-classical mix of white marble, Pompeian red, and dark-wood furniture. In summer, the fourth floor terrace overlooking the steps becomes a hot spot for new Roman “nobles,” and viticulture aficionados, sipping from a menu of 400 wines.
