Exedra
Rome, 00185, Italy
TEL: (888) 626-7265
Built over Emperor Diocletian’s third-century baths in Piazza della Repubblica, the Hotel Exedra is housed in a white marble Neoclassical palace dating from the late 1800’s. Inside are 238 guestrooms with high ceilings, marble floors, silk wall coverings, and faux-crocodile headboards. Rooms located in the 16th-century Clementino (granary) also contain exposed brick and original wooden beams. Renowned designer Adam Tihany is responsible for the hotel’s Tazio Restaurant, which celebrates the Fellini era of Rome with snapshots of Italian celebrities by the first paparazzo Tazio Secchiaroli. Upstairs, the rooftop pool overlooks the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, designed by Michelangelo.
Room to Book:
For the best view, request a high-level room overlooking the piazza’s 19th-century Fountain of the Naiads.
Insider Tip:
Breakfast is pricey here, but there’s also a McDonald’s next door serving morning brioche and cappuccino.
