Sachuest Beach

Sachuest Point Rd., Middletown, RI 02842, United States
Sachuest Beach in Rhode Island

Perfect waves, a flat sandy shoreline, and a lack of any retail or commercial outlets make this Newport’s best-loved summer hangout spot. Nicknamed Second Beach, its more rugged scenery (compared with neighboring Easton’s Beach) make the trek from downtown Newport well worthwhile, plus you’re right across the street from Norman Bird Sanctuary and Hanging Rock, both musts for any nature lover. Show up with packed sandwiches and make a full day of it: at sunset, when crowds clear out, you’ll want to linger to enjoy the view while strolling the full 1.5-mile shoreline. This beach is a true Newport classic.
