Artisanal/handicrafts

Lopapeysur (Icelandic woolen sweaters) are the best way to stay warm during the short, dark winter months. Best of all, their zigzagging patterns are suddenly in fashion (a staple of hipster winterwear). Alafoss has been the main purveyor of handmade knitwear for well over a century, and it’s worth the trip out to Mosfellsbaer—a suburb of the capital—to visit their warehouse. It's filled to the ceiling with sweaters of every size. Make sure to try many options on as they are all handmade and can vary slightly in shapre and fit.
