Icelandair doesn’t just specialize in well-priced airplane tickets, and stopover incentives. The national carrier also has several hotels scattered across the island, the best being their property situated along the old harbor in downtown Reykjavik. Its perfect position offers sea and city views, and is walkable from all the desirable attractions in town. Housed in a former factory, the hotel’s architecture admirably toes the line between old and new, with nautical themes throughout and plenty of blonde wood. During stormy weather, there’s no need to leave the grounds as the lobby bar, Slippbarinn, serves up playful cocktails (try the Blood and Fire, with chili-infued Scotch, vermouth, fresh orange, and so-called hellfire).
