Typically, a bar inside of a hostel wouldn’t be appealing to every type of traveler, but the owners of Kex have worked hard to create a hip, approachable atmosphere. And by the number of locals elbowing up to the bar, they've succeeded. Housed in a former cookie factory, Kex was designed using furniture found at a Las Vegas estate sale after a Western-themed hotel went bust. But the retro, Westworld vibe works in downtown Reykjavik. Draught beers and well drinks are standard, but every night at Kex is guaranteed fun. Guests can even request a close shave at the adjacent barber shop on Thursdays.
