After sustaining injuries in a car accident, Dave Spencer began a personal quest for wellness, which led him to create SenSpa—a holistic healing center located in the Presidio. The spa offers cross-cultural treatments in a 13,000-square-foot renovated World War I army barrack. The interior consists of 14 treatment rooms and three relaxation areas featuring a floor-to-ceiling cylindrical fireplace, raised sunbathing platforms, and a tea garden. Services include acupuncture, wellness coaching, facials, and a blossoming lotus ayurvedic ritual, which incorporates massage and shirodhara (warm oil poured onto the forehead).
Insider Tip:
Arrive at least 30 minutes early for your appointment so you can relax in the warming room, where there are plush lounge chairs, heated blankets, and organic teas and snacks.
