Mamaison Suite Hotel Pachtuv Palace Prague
In a city with no shortage of historic sites, the Mamaison Suite Hotel Pachtuv Palace, next to the Charles Bridge on the banks of the Vltava River, is one of the city’s most well-known; it was Earl Karel Pachta’s palatial 18th-century home and Mozart’s home-base while writing Don Giovanni. Each of the 50 suites is unique—some have baroque frescoes and fireplaces, others exposed beams and chapel ceilings—and there are ornate fabrics, parquet floors, and fully equipped kitchenettes throughout. Although it’s squarely in the bustle of Old Town (called Staré Město) and just a five-minute walk from the main square, thick walls, double-glazed windows, and two serene courtyards provide a lovely respite.
Room to Book:
For a river view, ask for a room in the “newer” building (which dates back to the 19th-century); room 209 is the only one with a view and a balcony.
Insider Tip:
Pre-book the hotel’s car service from the airport. It’s roughly the same cost as a cab—about $50—and you’ll travel in a Mercedes.
