Located in Prague's Baroque-style Malá Strana district, this 13th-century monastery turned 101-room hotel is grounded in its own ecclesiastical history. There are cloistered terraces, stone archways, and a cellar bar serving brews from the still-active Augustinian order of monks. That said, with its Cubist-inspired furnishings, glass-walled Czech restaurant, and Kerstin Florian spa (the only one in the country), the Augustine is far from lacking in modern amenities.

Room to Book:

It's a toss-up between No. 235, where the bathroom was formerly a chapel, and No. 117, with its standout wall frescoes. Meanwhile, the Tower Suite—occupying the top three floors—is worth the splurge for its sweeping rooftop views, from Prague Castle to the Charles Bridge.

Insider Tip:

There is a functioning church on the premises; don't miss a tour of its private libraries, offered exclusively to hotel guests.
