Plantation Gardens
Kiahuna Plantation
Koloa, Kauai, HI, 96756, United States
The 1930s manor house of Hawaii’s first sugar plantation is now one of the most beautiful restaurants on Kauai. Verandas overlook manicured gardens flush with green and red ti plants, cactus, orchids, and a man-made pond, all romantically lit at night. Chef Teri McLeod’s Old Hawaii dishes emphasize locally grown fresh organic vegetables and herbs as well as fish, seafood, and meats grilled over kiawe, a native mesquite wood. Try the prawns and perfectly cooked scallops wrapped with vegetables in a ti leaf or the coconut curry stew with fresh fish, prawns, scallops, and mussels.
Insider Tip:
The restaurant is open only for dinner, which begins at 5:30 p.m., but come after dark to experience the garden lit up by glowing tiki torches.
